Nobody Cares About Your Product

Okay.

That sounds harsh.

But hear me out.

You spent months creating your product.

You know every feature.

Every tiny improvement.

Every reason it’s better.

Naturally, you want to tell everyone.

So your Instagram caption becomes:

“Our new product features advanced technology, premium materials, innovative design and…”

And somewhere around sentence three…

your audience disappears.

Not because your product is bad.

Because you’re talking about your product instead of their problem.

People don’t wake up thinking about your features.

They wake up thinking:

“I need to fix this.”

“I need to save time.”

“I need something that looks good.”

“I need this problem to stop existing.”

That’s where good marketing begins.

Don’t sell the thing.

Sell what the thing does for them.

Instead of:

“Our chair uses ergonomic support technology.”

Try:

“Finally, a chair your back won’t hate.”

Same product.

Completely different conversation.

Features explain.

Benefits persuade.

And stories?

Stories make people remember.

Imagine you’re selling a camera.

You could talk about:

  • 4K video

  • autofocus

  • image stabilisation

  • sensor size

Or you could say:

“Because the first steps, the messy birthday cake and the terrible family dancing only happen once.”

Now you’re not selling a camera.

You’re selling a memory.

And that’s the interesting part of marketing.

Your audience isn’t a spreadsheet.

They’re people.

They scroll when they’re bored.

They save things they’ll probably forget to look at later.

They send posts to their friends with absolutely no context.

They buy things because something made them laugh.

They remember brands that made them feel understood.

So before you post your next:

“We’re excited to announce…”

pause for a second.

Ask yourself:

“Why should anyone care?”

If you can answer that honestly…

you might finally have something worth posting.

And if the answer is:

“Because our CEO really likes this feature.”

Maybe go back to the drawing board.

Just a tiny suggestion.
